Location: The shelter Mas Garriga is a house surrounded by one hectare of land, located in the municipality of Juià, some 8 km away from Girona. This is a quiet rural area, not far from the centre of the village. The centre has its own transport means to facilitate the mobility of the educators and the minors.
Places: 22 places for young men and 2 places for emergencies.
Age group: 12 to 18 years of age.
The centre includes one classroom, since part of the resident minors are still in school age and, because of their language characteristics or temporal character of their stay, can not attend to ordinary schools. This service is currently also developing a project involving an ecological vegetable garden and a henhouse as part of the classroom-workshop project.
Foundation: The centre was created in April 2002. The centre collaborates with the Directorate General for Child and Adolescent Care, and is owned and managed by the Educational Platform Foundation since September 2002 as a result of a collaboration agreement.
Personnel: Director, 1 pedagogical coordinator and the Technical Team, comprising: 1 psychologist, 1 pedagogue, 1 social worker and 1 doctor (one of which is acting as team coordinator), 17 educators, 1 administrator, 1 classroom teacher, 1 workshop manager, 1 housekeeper and 2 cleaners.
The educational team provides external technical supervision.
