CRAE (Educational Residential Centre)

The CRAE are residential centres for educational action for children and adolescents from 3 to 18 years of age.

The children and adolescents living there on a temporary basis are under the guardianship of the administration and/or under the protection and responsibility of the director, as required by law.

The educators forming part of the educational team work in accordance with the PEC (Centre Educational Project - Projecte Educatiu de Centre) in order to guarantee provision of basic needs, education, affection, social integration and promotion, labour integration and development towards independence. The individual needs of every person are observed at all times, while, for whatever reason, the child or adolescent is separated from his/her family and/or no alternative is available.

The CRAE is open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. The centre’s programme contemplates the activities of daily life, education and training, personal development, knowledge of the culture in which we live and socialisation, in order to achieve an integral personal development.

The CRAEs depend on the Department of Social Welfare and Family Affairs of the Generalitat de Catalunya: Directorate General for Child and Adolescent Care. The Educational Platform Foundation manages three CRAEs: Sant Daniel, Segre and Sobrequés.
