CRAEI (Residential Centre for Intensive Educational Action)

The CRAEI are residential centres for intensive educational action for children and adolescents from 12 to 18 years of age who are in a high risk situation. The young people living there on a temporary basis are under the guardianship of the administration and under the protection and responsibility of the director, as required by law.

The educators forming part of the educational team work in accordance with the PEC (Projecte Educatiu de Centre - Educational Centre Project) in order to guarantee provision of basic needs, education, affection, social integration and promotion, labour integration and development towards independence. The individual needs of every person are observed at all times, while, for whatever reason, the adolescent is separated from his/her family and/or no alternative is available

The centre is open 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. The centre’s programme contemplates the activities of daily life, education and training, personal development, knowledge of the culture in that we live, and the relationship with the immediate environment and with others.

The CRAEIs depend on the Department of Social Welfare and Family Affairs of the Generalitat de Catalunya. Directorate General for Child and Adolescent Care.
