Dramatized visits to the Monastery of the Vall de Sant Daniel in Girona

They write to us from UFA Sant Daniel to tell us about an exciting and successful activity they did, together with neighbors of the neighborhood, during their festivities. It is a theatricalization within the walls of the millenary convent that was so well received that it will be repeated again during the Fairs and Festivals of Sant Narcís this autumn.

On August 31st, in the Valley of Sant Daniel in Girona, and on the occasion of the Neighborhood Festival, “dramatized visits” to the Monastery were carried out for the first time. These guided tours, open to the public, were organized and represented by a group of neighbors who volunteered and who gathered and rehearsed for months to carry them out and offer this theater to the neighbors of the town and people of the city.

The purpose of these was to be able to tell the history of the Monastery, but in a very original way. The neighbours of the Valley, eager to have fun and make known their surroundings and their history, played actors and actresses for a day. All of them represented different historical figures, from Countess Ermessenda and count, to musicians, chefs, hortolans, etc. All this procedure was carried out through an organization and communication between the members of the neighborhood and the participants, to be able to rehearse the work until the last moment.

For about a year, the UFA Sant Daniel, became a member of the Sant Daniel Residents Association, in order to make us participate in the neighborhood and actively involve ourselves with our boys, in the different events, activities, workshops, meetings, etc. that may arise. From this moment we have also been able to know in more detail all the activities developed in the neighborhood; one of them, were the “theatrical visits” that were preparing for the Festa Major. The AAVV opened its doors for our young people to participate in the most important events; For this reason, two boys from our center were involved as actors in the representation of “theatrical visits” with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm.

Saturday, August 31 was the day scheduled for them to take place, within the programming of the Festa Major. They were held in two sessions in a row, so that as many people as possible could attend, since the capacity of the monastery is limited. The previous day, educators and young people from the UFA were able to enjoy the performance, in a special session behind closed doors, aimed especially at family members and/or people close to the actors and actresses of the play. The result became a success, both for the effort, dedication, as well as for what it means from the most playful side of the activity.

Our young people expressed great satisfaction that they were able to be part of this activity and also to feel part of a group that has opened our doors to us from day one and that, in some way, has contributed to improving the process of integration and socialization of boys.

If someone has been left wanting to attend the performances, within the framework of the programming of the Fairs and Festivals of Sant Narcís, it is planned that the neighbors and friends of the Vall de Sant Daniel will come together again in order to represent, once again, the history of the Monastery. The dramatized visits will be made in the same environment, within the Monastery, and with a frequency of twice a day, to be able to respond to all those who want to enjoy the show. They will soon communicate it officially within the framework of the Festa Major of Girona.

Once again, our young people wanted to participate again and be part of the team of actors and actresses, in order to enjoy the experience again and make the spectators spend a fun and unique time in the city.
