The Gentis Foundation, through the Lo Pont centre, will participate in the European Commission’s Erasmus + SPORTME for the next two years. It is a project involving 5 international partners from 3 different countries (Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom) that aim to generate social inclusion through sport.
In addition to Gentis, there are social partners with experience in social inclusion such as AE2O (Portugal) and Phoenix Social Enterprise Limited (United Kingdom). In addition, there are sports partners at regional level such as the Robins Foundation (United Kingdom) as a member of the Bristol City Football Club &Sport Technification Centre, and the City of Amposta.
The objectives of the program are diverse. In addition to generating social inclusion in sport through tutoring and volunteering processes, we also want to develop healthy habits, competences and knowledge of emotional management in young people from 16 to 24 years old who come from disadvantaged environments through sports practice. To support sports clubs and organizations in the design of social and inclusive cohesion processes and establish social responsibilities in sports environments by creating a network of partners that develops strategies to guarantee access to sport for all.
The implementation of the project will be carried out in various phases. The preparatory phase aims to extract and analyse the modus operandi, similarities and good practices that are being carried out in the different countries in this field. The next phase aims to develop guidelines on social mentoring processes in the field of sport and how mentors can develop skills through sport to promote inclusion with the results obtained in preparatory thinking. The training, the next phase, focuses on the realization of a training capsule that will be developed by the project partners and aimed at training people in the sports field to be mentors. In the fourth phase, a pilot test will be carried out to evaluate whether the proposed processes are relevant to potential users. The last phase focuses on the development of short videos that combine international experiences of social inclusion.
